Hello all! It's been a little while since I've done a true update. Life has been bananas, let me tell you. I am now, finally, sitting in my new studio (furnished, no less!). I am pretty excited and very thankful to have a space dedicated solely to making things. I'm also thankful to all the people that have been in my life this year, to those who helped make some crazy life moments feel not so crazy, and to all of you who like and support what I do! I will be posting more about what I'm currently working on (it's a surprise!) once it's a little farther along. For now, and to cap off 2011, I leave you with a portrait that I just finished of my grandma and grandpa, and a few of the Maxeville Promo shots (more to come eventually). The promo shots were taken by my lovely coworker John Lubinsky at Eclipse Studios, so thanks a bunch to John for these!

Hello, folks! I'm here once more to bring Maxeville tidings. Craftin' Outlaws went swimmingly, thanks to all who attended and said hello to us at the Maxeville booth. Thanks goes out to my lovely assistant, Amber Buckley for being awesome!
Future: There is a good chance we will be at the CCAD Winter Art Sale, so keep your fingers crossed and maybe we will see you there! Also on the horizon will be some fairly interesting sculpts.
Until next time, here are some photos of Craftin' Outlaws:

Simon is really excited about his fledgling modeling career. This is his first big gig, which makes sense because he's here to tell you about Simon the Office Cat: the hypoallergenic alternative to an office feline. In this ad, he's showing off his coy "Le Tigre" face. Enjoy.

Most of us out there all want the same thing: a cat to live in your workspace. Unfortunately, like most people, I work with some cat-lergic folks. My solution is Simon the Office Cat (modeled off of my very own grumpy feline). He can be irritable when he doesn't get his coffee, and he's not a Monday person, but hey, at least he doesn't shed.
Here is the finished look for our good friend, Ramsey! His favorite thing in the world is his bright red cape. Not only is it fashionable, it's also cape-able of getting him into a lot of adventure ;) (Get it, cape-able? harhar)
....Anyway, here are some snapshots!

There was Marcon. That's right-Multiple Alternative Realities Convention. It was the Columbusian nerd paradise. Yeah...I'm not going to deny that I had to stop by the Starbase booth and oogle the Doctor Who toys (don't judge me!) Anyway, it was a fun time. I got to hang out with my pal, Laura from Rivet Gallery and be around toys all day, and what's better than that? Here are some shots of our set up for those of you who missed it.

FINALLY! The new website is up and running! Check it out at www.maxesmith.com! Here's a glimpse of it as well:
Also, the etsy store has items up for sale again (horray!!) www.etsy.com
This is a big moment, now I can get back to working on some toys and maybe even a painting or two! Yayyyy!

I'm pretty excited to introduce everyone to my very special friend, Ramsey! These are his debut glamour shots, so be kind (he's shy). Eventually he will have his cape too, but right now it's at the cleaners. In other news, the new website is in the works! Thanks to the coding help of m'dear friend John Olson, the new site will be up and running here in the next few weeks! This is basically how the site will look, but things need to be resized and tweaked and such. Anyway, hope you guys like it!

Here are some shots from the art sale last weekend. Once again, thanks to everyone who came out to support Maxeville! It's much appreciated, and has encouraged me to get the web store updated with some new stuff, but first the website is getting a complete overhaul (so it may take a while)! As of right now, the basic design of the site has been finished, so now the "fun" part of making it web ready can begin.
Special thanks to Solar Imaging for help with the banner!
